– Wybudowanie pomnika było dla mnie powołaniem. Chrystus objawił mi się i powiedział, żebym to zrobił. Tak się stało. Kierowałem się symboliką. Sama postać Jezusa mierzy 33 metry, dokładnie tyle, ile Chrystus miał lat, gdy umarł na krzyżu – mówił wzruszony ks. Zawadzki.
Jealous?

November 8, 2010 at 12:53 pmI have a terrible feeling Jesus himself would hate it. I've always imagined him as a really cool bloke and a bit of a hippie (I guess I've read The Master and Margarita too many times). Anyways, wasn't there something about Moses and the Golden Calf in the Bible?

November 13, 2010 at 11:12 amI, too, think that someone such as Jesus would not especially like such figures of himself, but what can ya do?To be fair, the statue is aesthetically pleasing. I have to admire Father Zawadzki for his drive. He was able to garner support – psychological and financial – for this project and see it through to the end. Jeez, I'd just like to make a vegetable patch in my garden and erect a pretty cool scarecrow and somehow I cannot get it done.I'm interested to see what exactly this statue becomes for Polish people – a meeting place, a place to worship, a place to protest? We'll see.
