We had a great Saturday full of family and pottery. First, let’s tackle the pottery part. We went to Bolesławiec, the Mecca of Polish pottery lovers, to get our yearly pottery fix. We bought a reasonable (not excessive) amount of pottery and snapped a lot of pictures. Trips to Bolesławiec are always great, but this time there was the added family bonus. I got to see my cousin after 20 years and meet her husband. They’re currently living in Germany and are also pottery fans. It was only natural for us to meet up for some shopping. Bring on the zakupy!
It was hard to make a decision with so many beautiful pieces to choose from. Luckily, Lizzie and Rosie were on hand to help. At least we only had to pop our stuff in the car and go. My cousin will eventually have to pack it all up and get it all to their next home wherever that may be. That didn’t deter my cousin in her shopping along with my comments of “Get it. You deserve it.” I should get commission.

May 25, 2015 at 7:06 amLooks like fun! But doesn't it get overwhelming? All the different patterns. There's a few pottery stores I go to here in Warsaw and I still get overwhelmed by all the choices! 🙂

May 25, 2015 at 7:57 amIt can be overwhelming especially with all the busy patterns. Our current filtering process is to figure out what we need (what we have recently broken) and for which place – our apartment or our house. Then we more or less have an idea of what we want to buy and what pattern/color scheme we need. I must admit, we have a big mish mash at home, but more or less in the same color group. I avoid the busiest patterns which is good because they are the most intricate and therefore the most expensive. We don't have the dilemma of those foreign shoppers who are buying for themselves, friends, and family. They have it harder. They have to match someone else's style and then figure out out how to get it home. They also were afraid to miss something good and were very careful in their selections. We go there about once a year more for fun than for shopping. I forgot to take a picture of one thing- they have bathroom washbasins made in the pottery patterns. If our bathroom wasn't already done, I'd totally buy it and seal my position as the self-appointed pottery queen.
