Life in Poland

VV

The original Polish sex kitten, Violetta Villas has died at the age of 73. Violetta whose career spanned more than 50 years was just as famous for her hair as she was for her coquettish singing style.

I got to know about Violetta Villas from my father-in-law. We were looking through an old photo album where we found a post card with a picture of Violetta Villas posing in a leopard-print bikini, of course with her trademark hair. My f-i-l who is a quiet and introspective man remarked that when he was younger he thought she was just about the sexiest thing going.

So, good-bye Violetta Villas. You have taught me a few things over the years. First of all, that “nie ma miłości bez zazdrości”. Second of all that “Józek wszystko wie”. And lastly, that my father-in-law has a peculiar taste in women.

Years ago I used to work with Violettas uncle, she was born and grew up in the town I lived. I met her once only at her uncle B'Day when she just about showed up and go. Later I know she also attended his funeral, but that happen when I was already in US.

Every time I see a picture of her, I think about all those cats she used to live with. I have a very bad cat allergy, so just looking at her picture could make me sneeze.

so I typed out an entire comment, then signed in to gmail, and then all my typing disappeared! UGH… Here we go again (after a glass of wine on an empty stomach… ha!)… So I grew up listening to Violetta (thanks to mom and babcia of course), but never gave it much thought till the week before Christmas… Naturally I went to youtube, and then to google… And then I found out she passed literally days b4 :o( Which really freaked me out, b/c I don't understand why I started thinking about her out of nowhere that day… It's not like I watch the Polish News… Anyways… I started researching her, and she has since become my secret girl crush (1960's circa Violetta only of course)… In getting to know her early music over the past few weeks, she trully was an amazing talent… As someone who can carry somewhat of a tune myself, I can honestly say that her range was just mind blowing and magnificant… Sad to hear how it dissapated later on in her career… But what is recordered in recorded, and a treat for us today… Although not gorgeous in the traditional sorta way, she was definately UBER HOT! What a hotsy totsy she was… No wonder the rat pack was banging down her door when she was in Vegas ;o) May God Bless her… And in learning about her, I've been reminded just of how short life really is… Happy New Years everyone… Enjoy every moment, b/c every moment is special in itself! PS. Love your title \”Kielbasa Stories\”
